Just checking out Barbi after seeing a repeat episode of "The Girls Next Door".
I wanted to write something from a womans point of view about her.
I've had the pleasure of meeting her in person over the last 10 years, and she is as cute and sweet as a button. Very grateful, down to earth person.

I don't understand why anyone would come on here and say horrible things about her looks or anything for that matter. For her age, or at any age she is so cute, and I've always enjoyed her big smile. I grew up seeing her on "The Love Boat", and she always made for entertaining TV back then.

I don't know much about her singing career, but will look it up on Youtube to watch whatever videos people put up of her.

Barbi Benton, I remember when I saw her the first time here in Sweden, it was in "McCloud" '75 I think, I was 12 years old and I was sold, totally sold. My heart went crazy about her and her music. I was so in love. I think I listend to "He used to sing to me" and of course "Ain't that just the way". My friend did think that I was just lost, but I, yes I WAS IN LOVE whith this gorgeous and lovely girl. And I have never forgotten her, somewhere in there she is still to day. Thanks Barbi for all the memories. With love, Dennis

Jag har minnen från min första pojkvän. Vi träffades under 1976. Jag var 9 år och "Ain't that just the way" vart våran sång. Har försökt hitta den skivan igen, men tyvärr. Tack för den här sidan. Hon var den bästa.

I recently saw Barbi Benton on the "Fight Night" episode of "The Girls Next Door". I have read some of the entries on here and one said that Hef's girls were jealous of her. I think it's the other way around. She got trashed and couldn't stop hanging on Hef. She made a complete fool of herself, and I loved it! Hang it up, Barbi, you are yesterday's news.

Comment: Well... Barbi is 57 years old, but she is still beautiful and sexy. And that bust of a beautiful and sexy girl that stands at a very noticeable place at the Playboy Mansion, who is that? Is it Debra Jo Fondren? Shannon Tweed? Anna Nicole Smith? Perhaps Erika Eleniak? Or maybe Tiffany Fallon? No, it is Barbi Benton. I think that sends a message... And when it comes to "yesterday's news"... Sure, Barbi was good news as early as 1968. But as far as I'm concerned, she has been good news ever since. /Per
I think Barbi is beautiful, of course. But she had one of the nicest singing voices I think I have ever heard. The Oakridge Boys made the "Ya'll Come Back Saloon" song popular, but I always thought Barbi Benton did a much better job with that song. Her voice is so clear and had just the right pitch and tone for that song. I need to go to eBay and see if she has any CD on there.

Thank you for this site.

Comment: I have never heard that Barbi should have recorded, or even sung, that song... Where did you hear Barbi sing it? I did a checkup on that song, and I found out that Donna Fargo has recorded it. Maybe that is the version you have heard? And about CDs... Alas there are no CDs with Barbi available, except for the "Kinetic Voyage" album, which is far from her country/pop albums. If you want to own the other Barbi Benton albums, you must buy used LPs. /Per

Just wanted to tell you that growing up and thru high school I was called Barbie Benton. I finally got to see you on the episode of "The girls next door". You came to visit Hef and the girls were so jealous! Loved it, that just goes to show no matter how much time passes you are special, and even a man like Hef you can tug at his heart strings! Not only are you beautiful outside, but within, and that's what counts. Take care and God bless and thank you for being you!

Hello,

My wife and I watch a soap opera (All My Children) on ABC channel. Lately, there's been a new character: Hannah. She sort of looked familiar so I decided to check in the internet. Bingo! There's no mention of her in your site, Per, but I'm very sure it's her... given her age, looks, etc. She still looks good.
By the way, your name brought in mind my old psychology professor at U. of Wis./Green Bay... Per Johnsen. Different ending: He was from Norway.

I would spend my summers out of school at my Grandparents farm in Illinois. They had a couple of your 8 track tapes in the John Deer tractor. I was 13-14 yrs old and fell in love. I would cultivate soy bean fields most of the day, while in an air conditioned cab, listening to your tapes on the new stereo. We also had the Carpenters, Helen Reddy, Dolly Parton and the like. Thanks for the memories!

In 1974 me and my friends visited a place called "Masten" in Kristianopel, Sweden. After the performance by Barbi, I waited outside the playground, where the bus stood. Suddenly a woman said "Hi", and there she was, Barbi Benton. Oops, my heart rushed and with a dry tounge I said, "Hi Barbi, do you have a t-shirt or something?" She said, "Wait a minute". Then she jumps out and said, "I didn't have a t-shirt of mine, but I took one of my staff's shirts for you!" She gave me a hug and a smile, and off she went. What a Girl...

Just a quick update. I went to my husbands 40th class reunion last Sat. In Sacramento, CA. I have seen pictures of Barbi in his year book, but I got to see her live and up personal. She has blonde hair, doesn't do a thing for her. She still has a nice body. But by watching her she is just like the every day folk. Nothing special.

I met Barbi at the Carbondale Mountain Fair in Colorado back in 1983 or 84... not sure. Barbi was wandering around in the large crowd at the mountain fair when she was about 9 months pregnant with her son. Not at all how I had always envisioned this goddess of loveliness. I said hi to Barbi and she said hi back and gave me a smile that I will always remember as I watched her disappear into the crowd. A few week later her son was born, and Barbi was quoted in the local paper as saying "Thank God he does not look at all like his father"... I thought that was kind of rude of her to say about her husband at the time. Well, that was my fleeting moment of seeing her in person.

I remember Barbi well!!

When I was a student at UCLA, I was a resident at Weyburn Hall and had the opportunity to go out for pizza with Barbi. She at that time was virtually unknown when she arrived at UCLA from Sacramento. This is pre-Hugh Hefner days. When I met her, she was known (pre-stage name) as Barbara Klein. A super lady with a real sense of not being "put on" in her attitude. I always enjoyed talking with her and we had a mutual respect for each other during those days at UCLA. I wish her all success in the future.

Thanks for your site. With Hef in the news today I was trying to explain to my young wife (from Ukraine) the history of Hugh Hefner and the aoura of Playboy. I mentioned Barbi (my favorite girl next door) as the epitomy of the women Hef new and helped during his era.

She and 99% of the people who worked with Playboy can be described with one word... "Class".

Hej,

Du bor i Sverige.

NEVER FORGET THEM.

Hi Per,
Great site! Barbi really deserves a site like this. I first became a fan when I was a kid watching Hee-Haw. I remember her on Sugar Time, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, etc. But like you, what I really love about her is her singing. I thought I had all her records, but now I realize I don't! I MUST get a copy of her "Ain't That Just the Way" album. I have the single but never knew there had been an album to go with it. Any way you can copy it for me? Pretty please? :)

I have a Barbi rarity I think... It's a little celebrity cookbook and she is on the cover. Something about kiwis I think. Her parents ran the biggest kiwi farm in the U.S. at some point.

I met Barbi in 1995. I was singing in an opera in Aspen Colorado where she lives. She came to see it and stayed afterward to talk to me. It really made my night!

PLEASE get me a copy of that album. Thanks!!!!

Comment: Thanks for your kind words about the site!
The single you have, and the LP with the same name, are actually two years apart, and the version of the song on the LP is not the same as on the single. Barbi made a re-recording of the song for the album, and that album was only released in Scandinavia, which might explain why you don't have it. Some trivia about that album is that it was produced by the Deep Purple legend Roger Glover, and that it was recorded in London. /Per

Hei Per.

Per,

That guy is a real [beep]! If he dislikes Barbi so much, what was he doing looking at the WEB site in the first place? Secondly, he seems to have NO life and is definately NOT HAPPY to be so mean to people he doesn't even know.

Barbi was a Model and assigned to be Hugh Hefner's host on "Playboy After Dark". Hef made the advances and Barbi turned him down numerous times. Hef made her a star by letting her make her country albums and travel. Hef also was the one who suggested that she'd change her name to Barbi Benton. Who would not submit to such a knowledgeable, older and wiser man, not to mention very wealthy helping them out? Hugh Hefner was very much a gentleman and treated her very well (like a queen), but he was still very much a Playboy. Barbi turned him down twice when he proposed marriage because he was cheating on her. She even moved out of the mansion (twice) and was willing to walk away, and eventually that is just what she did!

Barbi was never a centerfold. I think Barbi was very smart and seized a once in a lifetime opportunity that only Hef could give her. She was ALWAYS quite the lady. She married and has been married to the same man for 28 years. I think she is a VERY intelligent woman because she made it at a time when woman were held back and told what they could not acheive. Millions of people can't be wrong.

When you are as beautiful as she IS, EVERYONE wants you and wants to exploit you. I think she always made the right decisions and I am very proud of her for being able to do that under such pressure.

Just thought I would say what was on my mind. He made me very angry.

Sincerely,
Marc Longley <MarcLongley@Verizon.Net>

Kind of a sad life you must live, to have so much time to waste keeping a site up and running about a morally bankrupt gal who has such a low view of herself that she would live with a [beep] (Hefner) for so long. Hey friend - U might want to look at adjusting your priorities. Have a good day.

Some years ago I was at the Executive Inn in Evansville to enjoy a show with Barbi Benton. After singing some songs, Barbi came into the audience and for some reason, which I will never know why, she decided to sit on my lap, and to speak to me. I know it sounds unlikely, but Barbi planted a kiss on me, and as luck would have it, I had just happened to turn my face toward hers and I got the kiss straight onto the lips...

I was truly shocked at just how light and small this lady is... I don't recall how tall or how much her profile says she weighs, but I can say that having had her sitting on my lap, she was a featherweight but a real champ in her singing performance that night...

I left the Executive Inn with a real appreciation for Barbi's singing talents that night, not to mention her natural born beauty, nor to mention a great memory of her having sat on my lap... One which I still enjoy these many years later :-). Thanks Barbi!

I also left the Executive Inn with a less than happy wife... A wife who didn't especially like having "Barbi Doll" sitting on her husband's lap... Go figure... LOL!

I saw the TV Land awards too, and also found that wireimage had pics of her and her daughter, Adriana Gradow. From what I could see by the thumbnails, she looks a lot like her mother. I sure would love to see some larger pics from this event with her daughter. I noticed that Misty Roe's daughter also looked like her mom.

I watched the TV Land Awards last evening ONLY because I knew Barbi was going to be on it. GOD she is sooooo beutiful. She was wearing a very pretty red dress with shoes to match and a string of pearls. She was breath-taking.

I was a little disappointed that we didn't hear a song from her, but she did sing the little ditty 'Rumours' with her co-stars of Hee Haw. She is so full of energy and so enthusiastic. She just glows. If she was in a room of 1000's of people I would have NO trouble finding her. I am sooooooo in love with her that I don't even have the words.

How come she is never accompanied by her husband? Doesn't he love her? Does anyone know who Barbi's mother was? They always talk about her father, but never about her mother. Is this a bad subject for her?

I did watch "All My Children" a couple of times just to see if she was on, but did not see Barbi in the cast. Too Bad!

Thank you for some great photos and memories of a woman that I wanted to be just like when I was around 17. Of course my parents didn't even know I knew about her. I had the chance to visit the Playboy Mansion in the early 70's in Wisconsin, but didn't get a chance to see her. I had a friend that was a former "Bunny". Sure do miss the 60's and '70s.

Nice website. I recently got curious about what was going on with Barbi. My brother, John Bidasio, was a musician and band manager for her back in the day. I was happy to see his name listed in the album credits. John now is owner of Westwind Studios in Burbank, CA. He does mainly television productions including Grey's Anatomy and Veronica Mars.
