"Filmisar", or more correctly "Filmstjärnor" (=movie stars) has been heavily collected by Swedish children and teenagers since the early 50's. In the beginning these 45x70 m/m sized cards pictured just that; famous or sometimes not so famous movie actors. As the cards became more and more popular, also other kinds of artists were issued. There were jazz, country and rock artists, like Oscar Peterson and Elvis Presley, TV actors like Michael Landon, boxers and other athlets, comics, and eventually even animals (Lassie, for example) and vehicles. The popularity probably peaked in the late 60's and early 70's, but the cards were still made in the late 80's. As the cards mostly were traded and handled by children, most of the ones you find today are in very bad condition. Some of them, especially some of the early series, are very hard to find in good condition, or sometimes in any condition. Since the "filmis" collecting wasn't very popular after the 70's, even some of the later ones are quite rare.

I have in my collection, apart from Barbi, also cards featuring Michael Landon, Lassie, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Doris Day, Pernell Roberts, Clint Eastwood and others.
